DSC_0084        Paul Leader -  El Cajon Ford  (Former President)                       October 27, 1937 to August 8, 2017

Paul was the President and principal owner of El Cajon Ford since 1980. Paul was always involved in causes that promoted the welfare and achievements of young people, giving to numerous charities including the Lakeside Rodeo, Lakeside Optimist, the San Diego Chargers Blood Drive and so many, many more.

Paul was renown across America for his support of bass fishing and was called “the Godfather” of local bass fishing. He was enshrined in the San Diego Hall of Champions in Balboa Park in 2002, charter inductee of the San Diego Bass Fishing Hall of Fame by the San Diego Council of Bass Clubs.   Mr. Leader was recognized for his dedication to bass fishing and contributions to the sport when he was inducted into the San Diego Council of Bass Clubs’ Bass Fishing Hall of Fame in the Hall of Champions.

Paul Leader started the El Cajon Ford San Diego Team Open 20 years ago as a way to honor many of his regular customers. No one in San Diego has been a better ambassador for the sport or done more financially for bass fishing at any level than Mr. Leader.

The El Cajon Ford San Diego Team Open, is the area’s most lucrative and challenging bass tournament each year.  No other tournament has anglers fish El Capitan and Lake San Vicente one day and then require the field to switch lakes the next day.

The winner is picked based on points, not pounds. The entry fee is a very reasonable for a two-angler team and covers insurance, gate fees, entry into the Leader Bonus pool, barbecue dinner and raffle. The Top prize is $6,000, and there is $1,000 for big bass and $1,000 for biggest stringer.
